What is difference between "Chef knife" and "Santoku knife"? |

Chef knife came to Japan with European culture on Meiji period. In that period, Japanese don' t have a habit to eat beef then, "Chef knife" was named "Beef knife" in meaning of cut beef. As you can imagine, Chef knife is suitable to cut meat and aiso called "Wesiern knife" .
Santoku knife is made with correcting good points of Chef knife, Thin blade knife and Sword type knife. Santoku knife is suitable to cut vegetables and etc. This knife is made for household use then, this knife can cook almost meals. Then it is also called "Almighty knife" . |
